Plasma cutting is a common process in most metal fabrication shops. Developed in the 1960s, engineers took what they had learned from welding machines to create a tool that could cut through thick metal by simply speeding up the gas flor and reducing the size of the release hole. This innovation led to increased speed and accuracy, as well as allowing manufacturers to make different types of cuts in a wide variety of metals.
