Stainless Steel Flat Bar

Action Stainless stocks sheared and edge conditioned flat bar in grades 304 and 316. Other alloys can be provided upon request. Also referred to as sheared and gauer bar, these items are produced from stainless plate and possess the same chemistry and mechanical properties.

Restricted by the thickness capacity of the shear, sheared and edge conditioned sizes are typically limited to the following:

Thickness: 1/8" thru 3/4"
Widths: 1/2" thru 10" wide
Lengths: Typically 12' but can be produced in 20' lengths up to 1/2" thick

Flat bars can also be produced through an extrusion process creating what is known as "true bar." True bar will provide closer tolerances and a true 90 degree corner. In this process the bar is drawn through a pre-formed die to achieve more exacting tolerances. Because of the difference in production processes, the sheared and edge conditioned bars are typically somewhat cheaper in price. Sheared and edge condition bars can also be polished on all four sides to brush, #3, #4 and #6 finishes.
